What we do

Birth to 24 months

I believe in giving every child the best possible start.  This means providing many early experiences with lots of adult interaction so very young children can begin to make sense of the world around them.

I use sing and sign with babies to aid their grasp of early language and interaction with others.

We engage in learning through multisensory experiences such as yoghurt painting and messy play with safe, edible foodstuff.

I make it a priority to include daily literacy and numeracy sessions into early play experiences so young children develop educational concepts.

I do this through storytelling, singing, moving to music and much more.

Young children are encouraged to explore the world from a safe and loving base to develop independence and self-confidence.

2 years to school age
This is an amazing age where children are learning at such a fast pace that they need many varied experiences to feed their imagination.  I therefore provide exciting experiences both inside and out.  At this age it's not just about the resourses you have but how you use them.  I therefore make sure there are lots of resourses to engage with but there is always a twist to play such as making mud from chocolate pudding to drive the cars through and watch how the tyres leave tracks.

Children love working things out for themselves at this age therefore I provide building materials so children can design structures and test out theories.

This is also the age where emphesis is placed on children giving new situations a go, taking risks, challenging themselves and developing strategies to deal with problems.  Children achieve this through my support, encouragement and can do attitude.

The Primary Years

I provide wrap around care for children before and after school. I have NVQ3 in Teaching Assistant in Schools therefore In the time before or after school I encourage children to complete any homework they may have been given and I help where necessary.  We also enjoy playing board games, circle time, and outside play. During school holidays we like to get out for the day visiting the beach, Beamish, Washington Wetlands, parks and more.
